Launched in 1990 from a Boeing B-52 for its maiden flight, the three-stage Pegasus rocket is used primarily to launch small satellites weighing up to 4.5 metric tons into low-Earth orbit. The carrier aircraft, named “Stargazer” is the only one of once 250 TriStars still in active service and concludes the three-part series for the 50th anniversary of Lockheed’s trijet.
