In March 1982, the U.S. Air Force organized Exercise Cool Snow Hog in Alaska, in which the 18th Tactical Fighter Squadron participated with its A-10s. For test and evaluation purposes, a few of the unit’s aircraft received an experimental color scheme, adapted to the winterly conditions in the far northern regions of the North American continent.
