Back in August 1977 I was at Heathrow with my Chinon cine camera and radio. Over the radio I heard a Alitalia flight call up requesting landing clearance for Heathrow. The control tower said please confirm you are a 747, yes was the reply. It was not a schedule stop and had one engine sounding like a dustbin lid spinning round making a great deal of nose. It taxed right up to me at Terminal 2 and again not a normal place to be for a 747. I will have to watch the cine film again and refresh my memory. It was I-DEMA a 747-100.
