    Faultless and 1:400 scale.

Posted by Garry on 26th Dec 2018

Ok,this is a new diecast version of the Alitalia 'baci' livery of the late 90's !This particular model is at 1:400 scale and is one of only 420 units worldwide it seems, so once its gone, its gone! Only luck will be 2nd-hand opened units on Amazon etc.

    About the model:

Well with the box to start with and on the model there is now markings stating its a JCWings model though i trust it certainly is as everywhere on the net it states it is? Whether at this scale JCWings does not put a sticker/graphic on the model or the 'BigBird' is something that is only associated with the 1:400 collection logo for like special one off for models or to limited numbered made models,i am not sure but i guess the 400 logo on the box is something to do with limited numbered models are given that extra attention! Though there is a separate maker called Bigbird?

The model comes with card stating one of only 420 models! Though this particular version of this livery done by JCWings is much superior to past versions that were available 3/4 years ago at both 1:400 & 1:200 scales by DragonWings and Herpa and another that i cannot recall at this moment!

Where this model is superior ,is the overall finish! Most importantly they have correctly coloured the 'BACI' on the wings with the same blue as on the B747 fuselage!!! Previous makers did the wording in a lighter sort of French blue that was incorrect! Just google the plane and you'll see the blue is dark on the lettering STANDING out on the right wing of the aircraft like on this model! The worst version i have seen of this model was the 1:200 by Bigbird ? Notsure if thats the same with 'bigbird' mentioned with this model but that had bright blue 'baci' !

Overall this model is finished well and finally found a livery that was blue and have always wanted to have a B747 in blue! However , how i missed this one with the other manufacture's of years ago is a mystery though to those who wait, sometimes you get the better model and in this case it certainly seems so! So not sure how many there are left but once there gone, there gone! So personally i cannot find any faults, maybe a real 'nit-picker' may find something but its PERFECT too me! So it gets full marks at this scale for such and now an old plane and mould that is no more!

If you want a stand out old type B747 at 1:400 ,buy it!
