“Awaiting the Final Performance – Concorde G-BOAD, Heathrow, October 2003”

Concorde G-BOAD made its final flight on 10 November 2003 from London Heathrow (LHR) to New York JFK, where the aircraft is now displayed at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum.

This artwork captures the atmosphere, character and quiet drama of aviation’s past — a respectful recreation of the aircraft and eras that shaped modern flight.

Behind The Scenes

A photograph of Concorde transformed into an artwork. From there, digital artistry is carefully applied to add period lighting, environment and authentic background detail. AI tools are used as part of the creative process, guided by precisely written prompts and refined through multiple revisions. This transformation took some time to get right and to create an image that looks like it was painted with brush strokes. The original photograph was taken by John Wrake. He gave me over 300 photos of Concorde and kindly gave me permission to use them. There will be more in the future.

The result is a faithful, atmospheric tribute to classic aviation.

About the Artist

With over 60 years of aviation photography and plane spotting at London Gatwick — and earlier memories of London Airport (now Heathrow) — aviation has been a lifelong passion. This artwork is part of that continuing story: a tribute to the aircraft, atmosphere and eras that first inspired a love of flight. If there is a specific aircraft you would like us to create, please let us know, and we will see what we can do.
