The Trident 2E was an upgraded development of the earlier 1-series aircraft, featuring more powerful Rolls-Royce Spey engines, increased weight capability, and aerodynamic refinements including an extended wing leading edge for improved performance. With its three rear-mounted engines and high T-tail, the Trident had one of the most distinctive silhouettes of any 1960s European airliner.
