Herpa Uruguayan Air Force Fairchild FH-227 571 Scale 1/200 573368

On October 13, 1972, the Uruguayan Air Force Fairchild FH-227 crashed in the Andes while on a charter flight from Montevideo to Santiago. Of the 45 on board, 32 initially survived, including a team of young rugby players. Stranded at 4,000 meters (13,000 ft) with dwindling food, they faced days of despair after learning the search had been called off. Reduced to 16 survivors following an avalanche, their courage and determination led to a 10-day trek through the mountains, until two finally found help. After 72 harrowing days, their story of survival became legendary.

This limited edition 1:200 scale model was created in collaboration with the Museo Andes 1972 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Discover more about the museum and its events at www.mandes.uy.
