The Corgi Aviation Archive Lockheed P-38J Lightning “Virginia Marie” is a highly collectable 1/72 scale diecast model of one of the most distinctive American fighter aircraft of the Second World War. This release, product code AA36618, represents Lockheed P-38J Lightning “Virginia Marie”, based in New Guinea during 1944. Retail listings identify the aircraft as P-38J-15-LO “Virginia Marie”, serial 43-28538 / 194, from the 475th Fighter Group “Satan’s Angels”, 433rd Fighter Squadron “Possum”, at Hollandia Airfield, New Guinea, 1944.
 
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was famous for its twin-boom layout, central-cockpit nacelle, twin Allison engines, and concentrated nose-mounted firepower.
