Corgi F4U-1A Corsair Lucybelle Pappy Boyington Scale 1/72 AA33004

This Corgi Aviation Archive 1:72 scale diecast model represents the Vought F4U-1A Corsair, aircraft number White 86, named “Lucybelle.”

The aircraft bears the markings of Major Gregory “Pappy” Boyington and VMF-214, the famous Black Sheep Squadron, while operating from Vella Lavella in the Solomon Islands in December 1943.

The model features detailed panel lines, authentic printed markings, a hand-painted pilot figure, interchangeable landing gear, removable external fuel tanks and a display stand. Its predominantly diecast construction gives it a substantial and highly collectable finish.

Aircraft History

Gregory “Pappy” Boyington commanded VMF-214 during the Pacific campaign. He became one of the best-known United States Marine Corps fighter aces and received both the Medal of Honour and the Navy Cross.

“Lucybelle” was decorated for a wartime publicity photograph and became closely associated with Boyington, although it was not his permanently assigned personal combat aircraft.
