The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 N211MD was one of the first three prototypes built and the only one to be painted in the full McDonnell Douglas house colors. This livery was quite distinctive:
- The main color was a rich purple
- A thick, multi-toned cheatline ran along the bottom of the windows
- A thin gold stripe ran above the cheatline
- The tail continued the striping theme, but it didn't quite meet the fuselage stripes
