The Handley Page Hastings was a four-engined transport aircraft developed for the Royal Air Force shortly after the Second World War. It replaced the Avro York as the RAF’s principal long-range transport and played an important role during the Berlin Airlift. The Hastings was also used for troop transport, freight operations, training and meteorological duties before eventually being replaced by more modern aircraft such as the Lockheed Hercules.
